What is love?

Even today as I write this I can remember asking myself ”What is love” as a teenager. My answer today I am sure is different from the answer I gave myself back then. What was that answer? Honestly, I don’t even know.

What I do know is that love is a beautiful thing and that sometimes out of being misguided, miscommunicated and honestly not loving ourselves we can make love painful. I know that in the aftermath of a heartbreak it seems like we may never love again. I know that pain can feel like a continuous anxiety attack that never leaves. I know the pain can feel like someone has stepped on and crushed or even sliced our heart. I know that our mind wanders all over the place while we try to decide what can change, if it can be better, what went wrong, could something have been said any different, if the other person ever really loved us. I know that it can raise our blood pressure, lower our spirit,and/or confuse our mind. I know that the pain can be covered with laughter, moving on before we heal and/or be a cry in the shower.

I also know that love is kind. Love is inviting. Love is warmth. Love is security. Love is affection. Love is wantedness. Love is joy. Love is happiness. Love is sweet kisses. Love is passionate. Love is sometimes anger. Love is sometimes confusing. Love is peace. Love is acceptance. Love is forgiveness. Love is communication. Love is being present. Love is letting go. Love is understanding. Love is being a shoulder. Love is guidance. Love is wisdom. Love is encouragement. Love is being compassionate. Love is God.

The one thing about love that I did not know was the power of loving myself.

Do you know the power of loving you?

Do you love yourself?

We often get wrapped up in heartbreak, whether it originated from family, friend, spouse/partner or a situational heartbreak. We put up walls. We vow to never love again. We shut down or we may go buck wild. One thing I know for sure is that I don’t want to be stuck in the pain of love and I don't want that for you either.

So, Today I am emphasizing the importance of healing from the pain of love and embracing the love of love. I had a taste and it was magical.
